Nokia Intellisync stops

Nokia annouced that they wil discontinuance the Intellisync suite of products. And as you probley all wil know, this is the same product as Groupwise Mobile server that comes with Groupwise.

The reaction of Novell is that GMS will be supported for the next 2 years. But the are working on another solution for quite a while now. This just speeds up the process.

Update 2008-10-02:

It seems that they where surprised at Novell by the anouncement of Nokia to stop Intellisync server reading this post.

Recreate Certificates on OES1 and OES2 script

Finnaly someone had the same idea as me.

If you look at the tid’s from Novell to recreate the certificates for a OES1 or OES2 server you must be asking yourself: Why doesn’t Novell provide me with a script for this?

Now the user jmeldrum from Novell posted such a script on Coolsolutions at Novell

Finally!!!

Update 2008-09-30:

The Author of the script made a version 2 of the script. Main advantage are that you can use a Personal Information Exchange File. With an additional parameter it will also restart all the necessary services.

Here you can find the script.

Bug in Linux driver e1000e can damage Intel NIC’s

Intel reported that in the new test kernel 2.6.27 inclusive rc7 for linux, the driver for the intel cards can damage the hardware of this card. This is for onboard nic’s and for add-on nic’s

The bad code of the Intel driver can damage the eeprom for the nic. In this eeprom the MAC address of the nic is stored. So if this gets damaged, the nic will no longer function.

Here you can find a list of nic’s who can be effected.

fstab file is modified after VMware tools install

When I did a kernel update of a SLES10 sp1 with OES 2 services I have to reinstall the VMware tools. After the reboot my NSS volumes did not come up. If you look in the /etc/fstab file, you will see that the mount point for NSS are missing.

Just put them in there and your problem is solved. Better of course is to backup your /etc/fstab file before doing a tools upgrade.

Update 2008-09-25:

The probleem see to be that when you install Vmware tools, the is a copy of the fstab file saved as fstab.BeforeVMwareToolsInstall. This file is put back you reinstall or upgrade the tools. So Just delete the files (or save them at another place) and everything will go fine.
